Bay Area Media Report 49ers' Aldon Smith Arrest

As the Bay Area woke up Friday --news of THIS soon transcended talk about last night's debate.

  1. Doesn't sound good and the Niners were pinning hopes on him leading the defense this year. Last DUI was nine-game suspension. Last year, receiver Josh Gordon had to sit out the season after similar multiple-offenses. It doesn't look good that the Niners have the most transgressions of these type of any NFL team in the last three years.

I hope the guy gets his life together, but it doesn't seem like that will happen any time soon.

  2. Another thug athlete. Some people don't deserve to be rich. The team needs to cut their losses and kick him out.

  4. I'm so sorry to hear this ... sorry for the team, the fans and for Smith, himself. How sad that someone who has so much, can't learn how to contribute and make the most of his good fortune.

However, it's time to sever ties, and move on. The pattern is obvious, and will repeat.

I think the first pre-season game is this coming Saturday. The Niners shouldn't waste any more effort, and energy, on him.

  6. I have a real life and no time to waste on watching sports so all I know is what is in the news. This loser should be banned from ever playing again. Plus a year or so in jail.

    1. Yes, Smith should do time for this.

Watching sports does not mean one does not have a life.

      Go polish your Porcupine.

  7. Gary Radnich is in full apology mode for all things 49ers.
As only Radnich can do, stand on a soap box and lecture to all listeners over at Homer Central (KNBR 680).

  8. There was a good article today in the Chron on Charles Haley, who had similarly erratic behavior as Smith. Seems Haley has tried to help Smith, but it doesn't look like it's done any good.

  10. He was released by the team. Just another trashy football player....

  11. He's history as far as the 49ers are concerned but I bet he'll be snatched up quicky by another team if they think he'll help them win.

  13. He's had 3 DUI convictions in less than 7 years-per California law he's gone. Prison, grey bar hotel. Even with reduced sentencing he's still looking at a year in county jail even if he doesn't go to state prison. He's still in denial mode saying that he wasn't arrested for DUI, not once but two or three times. I'm certain that as part of his prior incidents his term of probation included AT THE TOP OF THE LIST that he would not ingest alcohol. He's toast. The 49ers may as well release him because you can't play if you are in prison. And when he gets out he's still got the league sanctions to go through. "Good bye, Aldon, and thanks for your past interest in playing for us."

  14. Aldon is no stranger to this. He was charged couple of years ago too but at that time everything went under the hood. I know this as my uncle works for a Los Angeles DUI lawyer and he tells me how cops and media play a perfect cover-up in such cases. I hope he gets the penalty an average person will get for this offense.
