  1. What can be done to get Krukow to use the word "beneficiary" instead of "benefactor" when describing a player who has received some goodness? I love listening to Kruk and Kuip, but when Krukow says "(so and so) was the benefactor of that great play" it kills me!

    1. Call Kruk at the Giants offices--tell 'em Rich said to call--I'm sure you'll get right on to the Mike's hotline.

      Delete
    2. 8:23 AM Does that word switch really bother you?
Finish this sentence: Kruk's incorrect usage of the term benefactor causes me so much anxiety that I cannot ............ anymore.

      Delete
    3. Consider yourself lucky if that's the only thing he says that bothers you. He has been dialing it in for a while. They could save him having to travel by just queuing up his usual soundbites and randomly playing them throughout any game.

  2. Why is it less likely a "news" outlet will provide the description of a suspect in a crime if that suspect is not white?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Because it's called political correctness and draw your own conclusion.

      Delete
    2. Glad you've done meticulous research on the number of crime stories with suspect descriptions each news outlet has done over a specific period of time to arrive at your conclusion. Because we all know that news managers have called each other to make sure producers, reporters, and writers at all news outlets get the memo that they are under no circumstances to report a suspect description if he or she is not white.

So glad, you're not relying on anecdotes, personal bias, and conspiracy theories. Looking forward to seeing your detailed findings in the next issue of CJR.

  3. Is it just me, or do the anchors tend to snub or brush off Mark Tamayo at KTVU?

    1. No, I think that's just the perception due to Mark's coolness which is kind of spectacular if you ask me.

  4. Why doesn't Christine have a fulltime radio job?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'll let her answer because no matter what I write she's going to say something else, that's just Christine.

      Delete
    2. Because Cumulus found her too old and abrasive; too far left of wacko. She is a hardly used part timer and only when desperately needed. KGO would utilize her for Dog and Gun Talk, maybe. Even that would be a stretch. She isn't relevant nor relatable. To her credit, she is a decent speller at times. Christine argues with dictionaries out loud a lot. She is so left but doesn't have a difficult time admitting when she is right, ever

      Delete
    3. My guess is because very few people in the Bay Area have a full time talker job these days, even much younger people. She is smart not to put all her eggs in that Busted Basket of Terrestrial Radio.

      Delete
    4. If you've heard her I think the answer is quite obvious.

      Delete
    5. @9:01 It isn't because Christine is too far left, it's because she is fundamentally disagreeable and just plain unlikeable.

Christine is an unpleasant person and that comes across whenever she communicates.

      Delete
    6. dear 9:01...Tell me more about how "too far left of wacko" I am. I'm pro-gun, pro US military(when used to defend this country), against loose immigration policy, see Snowden as a traitor, etc. etc...I'm waiting...
I'm also just guessing here, but my bet is that you love strong-willed, opinionated male talk hosts just fine. You just can handle those same traits in an American woman....simple. None of the most successful male talk hosts in this country are particularly "pleasant", are they? I am not now, nor have I ever pretended to be a Pollyanna.

      Delete
    7. It's not your gender Christine, IT'S YOU. People don't like YOU.

      Delete
    8. You are left of "wacko bitch" (and damn proud of it) Christine.

      Delete
    9. Christine wants to blame political bias or gender bias for being disliked.
NO Christine, it's neither of those things. People just plain dislike you because you are an unlikeable person.

      Delete
    10. Who do you think I am, Sally Field? So you are the arbiter of what "people" like or dislike? I don't think so. Your uber-capitalized certainty is so amusing. I'm no threat to you, I just do fill-in , from time to time. Why would you be so exercised about that?Hypothetically, if I had a regular show and it did well, you would say that the people who liked the show were stupid? The only time I ever had a regular show on a 50,000 watt station, the ratings for that time slot went up two solid points. I've had quite a career so far in television and radio. You believe that's because people didn't "like" me. A programming genius, you are not.

      Delete
    11. I think the arbiter(s) of what "people" like are all the people who don't hire you. In essence they protect the rest of us from having to hear you which is appreciated. If you were good at what you used to do you would still be doing it.

      Delete
    12. Christine, I'm not THE arbiter, I'm one of many who all find you unfailingly disagreeable and unpleasant.

And what's with "fill-in , from time to time." above? Improper spacing surrounding a comma, DEPLORABLE!

      Delete
    13. 1:10...I'm a lawyer who lives and works in a different city. I'm perfectly happy doing a bit of fill-in radio. I'm not applying for any jobs in radio, and never have. I've had the good fortune to work in big market television, network television, big market radio and smaller market radio.I have always, without exception, been approached by management in all those places (including KGO)to work for them. As for what you are "forced" to hear, have you not yet learned , that if you don't want to hear something, just turn the dial. It's quite basic. Will that help you feel protected?

      Delete
    14. How could ANYONE find her disagreeable?

      Delete
    15. I keep the radio on whenever Christine is filling in. I think she's great and have for many years.

      Delete
    16. Christine, people who have actually accomplished something don't find it necessary to convince others of their importance.

You are your own best and apparently only fan.

      Delete
    17. No. Why must you be such a bitch?

      Delete
    18. 1:14, You must get so depressed by all the disagreeable and unpleasant things you and your posse are forced to endure. Go take a flying leap.

      Delete
    19. I do "turn the dial" whenever you're on the radio.
You are, however, polluting this blog and thus we respond to your disagreeable presence.

      Delete
    20. Christine, I distinctly remember hearing you say you were undecided between working as a workmen's comp lawyer in Sacto & applying for the 10pm-1am KGO slot when Bernie got sent to prison, so don't give me that "never applied for radio" shit. If Jack Swanson offered you the job, you would've taken it in a heartbeat. You're lucky to have what you have.

      Delete
    21. Dear Christine,

It's proper style and punctuation to have a space after a question mark. You did not leave one in this portion of one of your responses:

      "that?Hypothetically"

      We expect better from you.

      Sincerely,
      A Style Guide Robot

    22. College kids have a drinking game named "Christine". They have to read her posts and chug a beer every time she uses the words I, me, My.

      Delete
    23. Christine is slipping. She hasn't mentioned her memorable, losing court case or her appearance on David Letterman 30 years ago.

      Delete
    24. If I won the lotto and was rich overnight I would buy KGO. The first host I would make an offer to that they couldn't refuse would be Christine. Her voice and opinions are needed again full time.

Then Stacy Taylor who most of you don't remember from weekends on KGO. But, I am from San Diego and listened to him down there for years. Then of course John Rothman would be back. And I would beg Dr. Wattenburg to return.

It's probably time for Ronn to retire. Chip Franklin? I don't know? He was for sure a conservative host for like 9 years in San Diego. He gets fired and after a couple of years KGO puts him on the air. I have listened to him, but I think he is just an actor on the radio. I take little he has to say seriously as it is just saying what the local people want to hear.

Drex is a huge douche bag and would be gone instantly. As would Chef Ryan and all is pay to be on the air "fellow chefs" that he pimps. Every single infomercial would be history as soon as any contracts signed were finished. Copeland would probably get his walking papers too. He just promotes himself and his friends way too much.

I might offer Pat a weekly show as I like her even though I have extreme hate for her friend Ralph Nader. He would never be on her show again and I would love to tell him face to face what a worthless piece of shit he is.

John Hamilton would get his full 3 hours back. I love to travel and many times his show has helped me out

Bringing Korel back is kind of a wild card. Maybe, after all it is San Francisco and he is Gay. Out spoken and I always don't agree with him like when he threw Transgender Women under the bus. I think he has changed his views as have much of the country on that.

Bernie Ward? I don't know as I would want to hear what the other hosts though about giving him another mike. I have read everything about him and I really question if he sincerely planned on doing anything he talked to this online a lowlife sex worker about.

The old KGO is long gone as are a few of it's best hosts. They can't be brought back from the dead and times have changed anyway. Just the same I know that I am not the only senior that would support a station and it advertisers like the old KGO

  9. How is Dr Bill doing? Hopefully well and enjoying himself. Most of talk radio is opinionated bloviating on topics the hosts know nothing about. Dr Bill's level of technical expertise is sorely missed. His son Eric is doing a good job with the Byzantine world of medical care. Otherwise there is no source for accurate discussion on the "issues of the day". Noory has an occasional show on an interesting topic other than the wacko paranormal crap. But most of his guests are from the fringe.

    1. I like Bill too even when he's cranky which I reminded him not to long ago.

I believe Dr. Bill has dome health issues that has slowed him down but expect him to rev it up one of these days.

    2. Bill is the bomb, in more ways than one. I miss his cantankerous, brilliant voice.

    3. Rich, would Dr. Bill be most likely on a local or syndicated show, and are his health issues something he can recover from? I would love to hear Dr. Bill back on the air.

    2. He was mildly entertaining even if he didn't know it.
      Now, he's just too irritating.

    3. Glad to hear Stan got the boot. Now it is time to ban that other lunatic, she of the grammar and spelling police, gun totting, pit bull loving, unpatriotic (snowden and assange hating), living in the past (letterman appearance in the 80s), felony loving (bernard ward) and overall hateful person Chrissy Craft. I'll donate $100 when you ban her old butt.

    4. Sure took you a long time to figure that out.

    5. You of the "donate $100" thing: I don't believe you yet I could get bought. Next move?

    6. 11:56..tell you what.. Let's have a swim race, one mile, my club pool, If you win, I'll never darken the doors of this blog again. If I win, I get the $100 and post the pictures. Game? Surely this "old butt" couldn't do that, right?

    7. Great Christine, you can swim. Congratulations. If you had gone to a decent law school you would recognize irrelevance.

    8. Chrissy, I'll take you on the swim challenge if you will also accept a 2 out of 3 set tennis match challenge. If I win you must wear a tiny and skimpy tennis outfit alas Maria Sharapova, take a picture and post it on Lieberman's blog with a big L sign around your neck. Game hun?

  12. This may have already been asked before on another forum, but does MSNBC's Chris Matthews have a house in the Bay Area? He often has the San Francisco skyline in the background when hosting his show, which tells me he is often in town.

    1. No, he lives in Washington.
That background comes courtesy of MSNBC.

    2. That background is from a new studio MSNBC and CNBC have down at One Market.

  13. Cumulus supposedly fired the talkers at KGO in order to reduce expenses. In the process, they dropped the station from #4 to #24. This obviously means less advertising revenue. You can tell by the quality of the ads. Are there any figures as to the net result? For example, what if they cut costs by $1M per year, but lost revenue to the tune of $5M per year? Would love to know how much their destruction of KGO actually cost them to the bottom line.

    2. Lieberman is too good for KSCO. Are you kidding? I'd love to hear Lieberman on air but his brand would be soiled on that station and I'm speaking as a local (Capitola). The station caters to the fringe right wingers who love Trump (Zwerling's mom Kay quotes from Trump's books as though she's reading the stone tablets directly from Mt. Sinai). The lunatics hated Lieberman when he was on air because he did not tote the tea bag party line and sabotaged his show on a regular basis with "technical issues" to make him look bad (Dave Michales? uhum). How about a weekly podcast Richard? Let us know when you're taping so we can call and interact. Make it happen babe!

      Delete
    3. 11:14, do you dislike the term "libtard" or terms similar to it? If so, you would be more consistent if you refrained from using terms like "tea bag" in reference to people who are appreciative of or involved with the Tea Party.

      Delete
    4. 11:14 I'm a teabagger, but I don't mind the term. It's just the last bastion of an opponent without ammunition. Just consider the source.

Now, as a newsaphobe, i follow several YouTube pages that posts full episodes of old newscasts. Last week, a gem of a newscast was posted on one of said pages. It was Van Amburg's last newscast on KGO back in 1986. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gx7qxTjpoEk I hope that you yourself, and the rest of the group here enjoys this. Now i know this was before i was born, and also, not from my hometown (2nd Generation San Diegan), but by just watching this, i have a huge respect for how the news was done back in the day up in The Bay.
