Veteran GA Reporter, David Stevenson Leaving KTVU

Longtime KTVU General Assignment reporter, David Stevenson, is leaving by the end of the month, according to one of my broadcast sources.

Stevenson, who also did occasional anchoring, has been with KTVU since 2005.

His mysterious departure (I have a few theories) coincides with the hiring of new Sacramento anchor, Keba Arnold, who will be the station's anchor for its new newscast at 4 PM.

Was Stevenson possibly miffed at being passed over for Arnold? I've heard various stories making the rounds and will be on top of it.

  1. In today's economy...and downsizing of TV reporter/anchor salaries, I sure hope this guy had something else lined up--and didn't leave just because he got passed over.

    That would be dumb.
    And childish.

    1. You know what's dumb and childish? Judging someone else from an uninformed distance and then pretending to care by writing a sad cliche like "I sure hope this guy had something else lined up."
You have no idea about his hopes and desires and no right to comment, so STFU.

    2. But you do, right?

  2. Despite working at KTVU since 2005 and being their San Francisco G.A. reporter the past 5 years, especially during live broadcasts, Stevenson would frequently stumble his words and acted stiff and uncomfortable. Being a southern California native, Stevenson could find a TV reporting job there or perhaps still live in the Bay Area as both Channel 3 and 5 do not have an African-American Male currently working for them.

  3. Anon at 10:44...your comment about no African American reporters working for them reminded me of a situation at KTVU. The first three casualties of the Fox purge (with more to come at 2 Jack London Square) are all African American males. Perhaps it's just a coincidence.

  4. You know that Keba Arnold is a black woman? Not everything is a racist conspiracy..

    1. Stevenson was very good! In terms of stumbling over their words there is no one worse on reporting than Janine De La Vega. She is horrible!

    2. de la Vega is really bad, and also is very biased.

  5. I don't know if Patti Lee still works at KTVU but she was terrible too!

  6. Janine is just fine. It's Frank Somerville and Heather Holmes who are terrible. Frank always adding his opinion to EVERY story covered. And Heather shows no compassion or professionalism when reporting the news. Awful anchors.

    1. Well, Janine is not good (and showed massive bias against the patriots showing the flag in Morgan Hill on May 5), but no question Holmes is worse.
