Bad KPIX Sweeps Prompts Changes

BAD SWEEPS FOR KPIX
*Terrible February ratings on all programs and platforms --Executive Producer changes; significant morale issues.

*Dan Rosenheim/ND sent an email to all staff.  He's moving the 11 o'clock EP to the morning show and the morning EP to the dayside shift. He said temporarily-- for now-- there may be more changes.

*NightBeat in turmoil.

  1. I haven't watched the morning show since Karnow was replaced with the romper room lady. I quit watching morning news all together...it's awesome. I'm more pleasant and have lower BP.

I watched the 10 pm show once for 2 minutes...it gave the term "the idiot box" new meaning. I quit watching 10 PM news all together...it's awesome. I'm more pleasant and have lower BP.

    2. I am glad to hear that you are more pleasant, and your borderline personality is doing better.

    3. Thank you for your diagnosis 3:11(AM). Perhaps your snarky outlook and inability to get a sound nights sleep is due to a news addiction. Does your self worth and view of the world hinge upon each and every concocted news crisis read by Brian Williams?

    4. 10:08,

I slept fine, but thanks for your concern. Keep up the good work with your BP!

  2. I stopped watching the 11pm. Such an unprofessional wrap. After Sports, sit through 4 minutes of commercials only to come back and they are chatting BS and say David Letterman is next. Ken Bastida makes a little mention of the 4:30am news, ABC7, NBC Bay Area wraps up their nightly very professional, wrapped up neatly

  4. They pissed off the legacy viewers. They got rid of solid field people.

Sure Dave and Kate are long gone, but they(Pix) should have followed the boomers and NOT lost it's course looking to woo the internet kiddies.

Used to be news outlets had distinct styles, now it's just the same stuff from a slew of gossip sites and u-tube. It's all designed to scare mommy in her minivan, and click, click, click all day long.

How many millions of productive work hours were lost over the debate about the color of a dress in the last 2 days?

    The next time "Twitter Explodes"...

...Please do NOT put it back together.

  5. I'm sure Elizabeth Cook is a nice person, but she's awful. She doesn't appear to be the sharpest tool in the shed. Get rid of her!

    1. Liz Cook's malaprop of the week:

"Enhanced bumpers create a cumple zone, where the energy is absorbed."

  6. Still trying to figure out a formula with outdated logic. There's a few answers that would work to monetize and build an audience for local TV that is innovative and unique and WANTED, but there's no way for any of them to "climb out of that BOX".

    1. You the same guy who called Da a vampire?

Don't suppose you watched Ken and Veronica last night. If you had you'd have seen a couple of real pros, comfortable in their skins and able to read teleprompters - without a single bobble.

  8. The problem with PIX starts and ends with the CBS corporate suits in New York who presume to understand this "market " called the Bay Area. They do not have a clue, and never have, and that's why people like De La Cruz and Cook are anchoring their newscasts. Of course it really doesn't matter since local television news died about ten years ago, and going through the motions like it never happened helps them justify their jobs and ridiculous salaries, all the while trying to keep an extinct, bloated and irrelevant dinosaur alive.

  9. Call me crazy, but I like the KPIX 11 pm news. Elizabeth Cook is no Dana King but she is pleasant. The Seattle weather guy has moderated his OMG! Weather! tone. The sports guy is exactly what I expect a sports guy to be. Channel 7 news doesn't resonate with me, and Channel 11 is still Double-A ball.

I will put on Channel 2 news in the background if I have to get to bed by 11 PM and I have some chores to do.
