OK, this is beginning to become sort of annoying ...but it still makes me laugh, I'm guilty.

  1. Why is this sentence popping up all over on live TV around the country? Are these kids getting it from the Internet, social media, or has it just gone viral and they are picking it up? Thank you

    1. A combo plate: The Internet, America, Kids Gone Wild and the word, "viral". Welcome to the 21st Century.

    2. You're right but our old man brought us into the world and he would have taken me/that kid out right there.

    3. It's "meme" it all started with a faked video of a news cast where a male reporter who thinks he's off air makes the comment about a missing girl. Then... a guy named Fred started doing this on air and it took off. All the videos are on youtube. I tried to post them for context on a different post yesterday but it was deleted for some reason (RICH!!!!) I wont waste my time posting again but do a search on youtube it's all there. This is not going away any time soon. And as you will see on the videos this is now World Wide...

  2. It's refreshing to see the youth of today having clear-minded goals and setting the bar high for what they want to achieve. ;)

    Okay, I laughed too.

  3. The big difference is that when I was a kid we didn't say it out loud.

    4. This is a good thing. I NEED people like this kid to grow up so I can have my oil changed for $19.99. I need this, and people like this.

    5. anon at 6:37pm........hilarious..and you are so right. For the person at 4:10 that equates screaming a profanity in the background of a live news hit to being empowered and somehow seizing power in some way is sad indeed. They will wake up years down the road to find themselves stuffing boxes with bubble wrap, or peering up at the bottom side of a car and wonder if they feel like putting the oil plug back in or not, or filling paper bowls at Chipotle with rice and such.

    6. at 6:27am... very good indeed, however, I need kids like this to grow up so that I can have my wiper blades changed and to be asked if I want large fries or medium fries with that order. His parents are clearly heroes and he's an Honor student. He'll be saying things like: Yes your Honor, No your Honor - No Contest your Honor...I'm sure he will turn out fine.

  5. Her composure is truly amazing! She probably thought "I KNOW I DID NOT just HEAR what I thought I heard, Of course not. That's preposterous! I'll just keep on doing my job and looking professional. Besides, there is nothing I can do about it now.

This reminds me of Non Sequitur Hall of Infamy quote from an unnamed weatherman, who advised the anchorman to "Just keep F--King That Chicken!"

  7. The mental giant appeared to be on a skateboard The only thing that would have made the video worth watching is if he fell of the skateboard and cracked his head open, On second thought his parents would probably sue. FHRITHP was never funny and only appeals to bottom-feeders,

  8. Rich, you're always hating on Allison Janney and her Kaiser Permanente commercials, but what about the nauseating Sleeptrain commercials with the pity-evoking kids who whine about how their lives suck and it's YOUR fault! If I ever intended to help these kids, I'd now be completely turned off about it. i don't know what they had in mind with those commercials.

  10. Great job, Rich. Way to encourage this asinine and immature behavior.

  11. I think the best course of action for the reporter is to just keep going like nothing happened. The comment made by the kid was so far off-mike, that it really is difficult for the average TV viewer to hear. If only 20% thought they heard what was actually said (because of the difficulty in making it out), then by just going on like nothing happened, it would probably convince the viewer that what they actually heard, they heard wrong. This would also take the fun out of it for the boy who probably did that to see what kind of rise he could get out of the TV people. If it doesn't appear to affect them, then it defuses the fun.

    1. Agree 100% 8:26. If you're a true pro, you continue. Years ago, when Cheryl Jennings was a field reporter for KGO, she was doing a live shot in the East Bay. She had her purse between her feet. In the midst of her report, some little hooligan crawled (off camera) to her feet, stole her purse and took off. Cheryl knew it was happening and never missed a beat. She was, and still is a true pro. BTW, the cameraman ran down the kid after Cheryl sent it back to the studio and got her purse back.

  12. When she first comes on air she looks to her right and she knows something's about to happen as the young man rolls on the skateboard. Rich, do you know why she decided to step off rather than continue? Is this a new procedure? Btw gotta love how the aryans come out of the woodwork to point out the ethnicity of the young man. They get outraged about this while their white brothers grow up to be serial killers. Aztlan is here to stay amigos. Stop stressing over it. Just accept it.

    1. No, he's not a "young man".

He's a foul mouthed little punk. I would've bashed his friggin head open if he talked to me like that.

  13. Way back when in the newsroom, we used to complain about meaningless live shots where nothing was happening. Now, you can't have a reporter do a story without a live shot -- after all live trucks are a huge investment. Live shots have become so commonplace, a lot of folks have no respect for the space around TV crews who are pretty vulnerable from a security standpoint. People out on the street will continue to see how far they can go and news managers are going to have to make some hard choices, because somebody will get hurt on live TV. I would imagine security guards will eventually become new additions to TV news crews.
