Michael Savage Was Really Brilliant On The Topic Of Religion Wednesday

MICHAEL SAVAGE, as many of you know, is a favorite of mine--today, (Wednesday), Savage offered a thoughtful, intriguing, brilliant actually, fifteen-minute opening monologue on religion as it's positioned toward politics.

Tonight at sundown Jews around the world celebrate the New Year. It's Rosh Hashanah.

Savage's wording intertwined with an audio clip of the blowing of the shofar created the type of interesting segment that is not the norm for conventional radio broadcasting and I appreciated it. He also talked about how faith and religion can often collide with one's political leanings but need not have to--if this sounds somewhat complicated it is and the fact that it came from someone who is as polarizing as Savage is is frankly pretty remarkable.

I've often lectured Michael that political radio, in my opinion, has become lazy radio. Nobody really gives a damn anymore. People are for the most part fed up with all the pols, be they left, right, Democrat, Republican, et al --even the partisans have seen their ratings tumble. People want to be entertained and informed and they've mostly tuned out political radio. They want something different, something provocative, something unpredictable. A story teller--Michael Savage comes to mind.

Wednesday's Michael Savage monologue is worth listening to--here's the podcast.

  1. Listen to a Jew who's so ashamed of his Judaism that he changes his name from Weiner to Savage talk about religion? No thanks.

    1. If I was a Jew I'd be ashamed too. So I can't knock him.

    2. Since when was your last name indicative of whether or not you're a Jew? Last I checked Judaism was a religion not a race.

    3. Hey, @1:22 - We know all about the religion vs race thing, but thank you for trying to look more intelligent than the rest.

Fact is, surnames matter in this case. Applebaum, Berman, Cohen, Dershowitz, Edelmann, Fleischer, Goldmann, Hertzfeld,..... Could go right down the alphabet. Are they all Irish? Got it now, or need me to continue?

    4. Hey yourself @ 5:05 - Since when are last names ending with double n (nn) Jewish? Better go back to school.

    5. @5:05....

Last name is very much indicative of whether you're a Jew in general however its not conclusive. Just because somebody is called Fleischer doesn't mean he's a Jew. Fleischer just means butcher in German, its a German name too. Yiddish and German are very closely related and many of these Jewish names are German words. Jews don't have family names per se they have this kind of Rocky, son of Giovanni type system. When they took family names they often took them after their profession, place of origin of their family, attributes etc. etc.

Got it now, or need me to continue 5:05?

    6. I love when people like 5:05 think they're so smart and yet they're really so so dumb. Never go full retard.

  2. Rich
They way you promote Savage, I have come to the conclusion that you are a closet conservative. You just can't admit to it.

  3. Oh, you meant Michael Alan Wiener.

  5. Like everything else in Savage's life his Judaism is used merely as a tool to promote himself in some way.

  6. Sheesh, Rich! I just tuned in because of your post and all I learned is what a farce he is! He tells people he doesn't believe in Judaism or that he has a problem with organized religion, and I assume it follows that he doesn't attend synagogue yet he tries to make fun of "bagel and lox Jews who don't attend temple." Does this farce go to a temple? As a Jewish person I can assure you he is an insult to the religion itself because the Jews care about others, and this farce cares for no one but himself. As the other writer mentioned, he's so ashamed of who he is he had to change his name. Good riddance. As a jew yourself, Rich, I'd think maybe you have a better understanding and stop promoting a person of hate and self like this.

    1. yes, Savage/Wiener does go to shul. how often i don't know, but he spoke at our Kol Nidre services a couple of years ago. remember, lots of celebrities change their names motivated by the necessity of self promotion in creating
      a show biz persona.

    2. I believe he'd go to someone else's temple to speak. that makes complete sense since he'd be promoting himself. I highly doubt he ever goes to his own, or that he'd sit among others, pray and listen to someone else. your comment hardly addresses the reality.

  7. Regarding the comment about the person's belief that he'd be ashamed if he were Jewish, I often think the real reason liberals hate Israel is the because Israel represents strength and balls. And the average passive liberal you run into often has spindly arms and tiny balls (both physically and metaphorically). To me the average Anti-Semite is like the whites in apartheid South Africa. Small-minded, insecure, and afraid that the minority will ultimately get power. In South Africa, the thought of a black person with power scared the hell out of them. Similar to the idea of Jews actually having physical power. As long as the Jews go about their business and not demonstrate strength they will tolerated. But show strength and the Anti-Semite is very scared. And that is why there is a protest when Israel acts out but literally zero protests when other countries fire upon their neighbors or their own citizens. Be strong and be proud and never doubt. That is the way forward. Show a weakness and those who are internally weak (the liberals) feel safe and secure in their own superiority (at least in their own minds which, being the selfish people they often are, is good enough for them).

    1. Most Jews are liberal, idiot.

    2. Two points in reply: first, most Jews are not "liberal" when it comes to Israel (see Dershowitz and the reason why most Hollywood types were totally silent this last go around); second, those who are still "liberal" when it comes to Israel are mainly self-haters. The post was meant for the general local and world population and not any one group within the 'liberal' moniker. And to have to use the word 'idiot' as part of your reply just shows that my point hit home.

    3. You sound threatened. Small penis? Business failures? Opposite sex not attracted to you?

  8. I think the poster just wanted you to be aware that you're an idiot because one does become less/more liberal based on whether or not they feel a certain way regarding war. Jews tend to agree in the protection of Israel at all costs. One could argue that most conservatives Christians want all Jews to perish when Jesus returns. Your arguments don't take away the idiot moniker.

  9. Rich- Why do you bother writing about Michael Savage, or even waste the time listening to him? The man is an egomaniacal, pompous, insecure lout, who thinks he has the right answers to every thing. More significant than that however, is the strong probability that the guy spews out his nonsense just to get a reaction. I refuse to believe that anyone can espouse the kind of drivel that Savage throws out there, and is actually serious. Savage does it to try and get attention and ratings. And I guess it's working because there are enough unimaginative boobs out there who find this guy 'entertaining.' I find him small minded, hateful, and absurd in his thinking.

    2. 6:42 you are right on the money. Don't get Rich's fascination with Savage. 8:14 However, don't think Rich is a Savage wanna be, he as far as I can tell does not have the mean edge and absurd edge Savage have, which speaks in Rich's favor.

  10. This all reminds me of the Palestinian chicken episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Not all but many Jews like to play both sides of the fence. They attempt to blend in and disguise their heritage but turn into yamika wearing Super Jews when it means an advantage for them. I've worked with and become friends with many Jewish folks who have no problem with bacon, carnitas, crab, lobster or shrimp but come any holiday and they become Moshe Dayan. In all fairness many Christians are hypocritical too but not quite to the same extent.

  11. Religion for whom? You and me? Oh I get it. You mean when the vastness of the universe collides with time inside the human brain that allows for the creation of patterns of symbols and habitual rituals that shape realities for those who wish to believe in a supernatural mythological god that oversees them all with an eye of providence.

There are approximately 4200 religions in the world and all think that they are righteous and just. That somehow they were given or found the ultimate truth. Trapping the magical ether in a flacon and obtaining the true meaning of logos.

Religion for whom? You and me? Then let us watch our hearts be weighed against a feather as the karmic wheel spins. Weep for the tattered and torn hanging prayer flags on the windblown eastern steppe in a magical land called Shangri-la. Who wants to be the first to live as a newly born child? Filled with hope, a belief and a dream.

Religion for whom? You and me?
