GAME ON! The Most Influential Anchor At KPIX; VDLC And Power At 855 Battery; New Kid On The Block Rules; TRENDING

 "GAAAAAME ON!"

Veronica De La Cruz has built up quite a bit of cachet over at KPIX.

She's apparently taken over the newsroom and dare cross her, she'll handle it, maybe you too. Power is a bitch at 855 Battery.

TRENDING!

This much is certain: she's undeniably thee most influential anchor in the building. They didn't invest over a million dollars to bring her out, (salary, expenses, plus generous chit list), to rearrange the furniture.

They expect numbers and ratings. Everything else is pure coincidental, right? TRENDING!

PIX staffer: "She acts sorta like a dominatrix!" Well isn't that special!

  1. Seriously, why? She's just another not-very-pretty face who can read a prompter. Why spend a million smackers on her when you can go to one of the "Communications programs" at any of the community colleges that dot the Bay Area and hire six for less money?

Just goes to show managers are idiots who should not be allowed outside without their safety helmets.

    1. Agree 100%. She's not even a de la burrito according to some on here.

    2. Obviously Edward, you need to go out and get laid.

Wait, maybe just leave the house!

    3. I get laid by someone better than that all the time.

If that's your standard your standards are pretty low. Just hang out at any trendy LA high school to get yours.

  2. She is ok, but not natural. The funny way she only looks using the side profile is still kinda weird. Her chit-chat is pleasant but a little forced. Overall I give her a B to B+. I do still like her better than Liz Cook, and for me that is all that matters.

    1. Ditto here but I haven't noticed the profile. I'd give her a little higher grade. You can tell she's got more experience than the vast majority of local anchors. I have seen some pronunciation errors with towns, schools and such, but I figure that's a matter of acclimation.

  3. I bet she is that assertive and aggressive in bed too?

  4. She's better than Dana King was, but that isn't saying much.

    1. OMG! Better in what way? I miss Dana very, very much. A true professional and pleasant personality.

    2. King was a hack journalist in place to appeal to low information voters, nothing more.

  5. I'm sorry but she's not all that. A legend in her own mind?

  6. I like Amy G. myself. She would be a really good news anchor, but I guess her strength is baseball. The Giants are fortunate to have her unique insights and talent available for all of the home games on their TV broadcasts.

    1. This must be her husband Paul commenting Amy G sucks and is only good at one thing...

    2. Paul, that you? My wife who doesn't watch baseball regularly heard Amy G the other day (just heard her voice) and instantly said she's a terrible announcer. Without any prompting. Frankly, I don't dislike Amy G as much as most folks here, but she is in no way anchor material. No possible way. Not even reporter material. Maybe she could co-host "The View"...

  7. I'd Cruz her 'chit' if you know what I mean, and I think you do.

  8. The Empress’ New Clothes…

KPIX paid a LOT of cash to bring VD out here and made many sacrifices – moving expenses for her mom and kid too, schedule changes, new set, new – reshuffled staff and plenty of “creature (feature) comforts” – she doesn’t fly coach, she MUST recline!

About the only money saved was on ties.

Now they’ve got a new queen bee but where’s the money, honey. The social media extravaganza is the biggest joke since Charlie and Humphrey – only nobody is laughing WITH her. Now KPIX has a newsroom full of staff who are not only pissed off at their own situations but have a reason to focus their anger and will soon be pointing out the failure and folly in public ways. Miss Schertz has ostracized the only folks that MIGHT have been in her corner and with no local community roots she’s on her own. The brass will kiss ass for only so long. Then it’s “so long!”

The clincher is that NightBeat is one thousand times better when Veronica De La Bat Mitzvah isn’t the anchor! I’ve seen actual decent broadcasts when she isn’t present – I’m gonna bet the suits have seen these too.

I guess the big question is will it be a round trip ticket when she flies home for the Holidays?

    1. From an insider, I can tell you this: spot on. She's not very well liked in the newsroom.

  9. Ms. Dana King is too busy working on being the new and improved councilperson for District 3 in Oakland. Her art career did not pan out. So Dana decided to become a carpetbagger because she believes that she understands the Big Picture.

This lady is as qualified as the current batch of Oakland politicians. That is not saying much.

    1. Dana King was an awful anchor. I'm sure she'd be as effective as Jean Quan or that Dellums guy as a civic "leader"...

  10. Ok,my take on her...Relax. EVERY female anchor who succeeded in the bay area had the relaxed soccer mom personality. All of them. Hard hitting journalist didn't work- Sylvia Chase. Vane beauty didn't work- Terylin Jo for one. No,the bay area wants a pretty face on a comfy sofa. We want to think we see the inner beauty in woman who have plenty of outer beauty.
And get her a taller chair. The drop from Martin to Bastita is too steep.

    1. Game on, I like her. She is a welcome departure from usual talk me to sleep news anchor. A welcome change for the Bay Area.
