Damon Bruce is Already Ranting and Raving and Screaming and Yelling But Not About Women

  1. TRUE STORY:..I Stan in the eastbay had the windows down, the top open on a warm sunny today. I had Bruce on (again not agreeing doesn't mean I don't listen. I'm a big man that way) And ,you know,I had to put it loud over the wind noise...as I come to a stop at a red light,Bruce starts yelling about Raider fans, say "THEY ARE A BUNCH OF SISSY KISS ASSES!". He went on "THEY WANT THEIR ASSES SHINED!"..And I looked around..and woman next to me gave me the embarrassed to hear that look. Hey,they were genteel types in Lexus SUVs. Some guy in a delivery van was smiling.
This isn't the Bruce of KNBR,admit it or not...Hammer would never have let him rant like that. Hell,he took a swipe at Greg Pappa for "doing a 3 hour Raider fan show"
I wish I could have heard more...but I had bizzness to do.
    Yeah,he's making Bruce's last stand,full speed ahead-charge!. It worked for Custer..uh,wait...

    1. Admit it, you were riding your bike and had a boombox tied to the frame with a bungee cord.

  2. I appreciate the competition in the market, and I'm somewhat intrigued he was able to do a decent interview with Mayor Quan. That said, I was listening to him the other day and realized he has so little to say. I went like 10 minutes without really hearing it because in truth it was just fluff. He's just not a unique thinker. He's the kind of guy who looks the part, and at times can even play the part, but when you spend enough time around the part you realize it's a relatively empty part. He's better than the majority of hosts in the Bay Area doing sports but at the end of the day he's not enough to make a real impact. Unfortunately for us the majority of hosts here are terrible, which is in turn fortunate for him. After all, Rick Bucher, Fitz and Brooks are on the air here.

  3. Yes. Yes, he was.

    And wasn't it glorious??

Sure, after the interview with the Mayor of Oakland, he was grabbing himself and feeling good but he didn't softball it. He even did a shout out to Rich Lieberman.

Today, it was the Raiders. And I can't say I disagree.

Yes, D-Bruce isn't everyone's cup o' tea. He's the loudmouth. He pisses people off. He's the monkey in the wrench and the pain in the ass. His goal of getting a new stadium for Oakland was an obvious ploy to endear himself to the A's fans at a new station. And there are plenty of naysayers complaining on The Game's Facebook page when they aren't pining away for the Rise Guys.

    But he's interesting.

He'll get people to tune in.

    He'll move the needle.

Things that were not happening previously with the Game's ratings.

Over time, he'll win over a lot of those naysayers.
All others can move on and find a safer sack-free show.

Pound it! Pound it! Pound it!

  4. Breaking news: Tom Leykis will fill in for Gil "Comatose" Gross next Friday. It'll be the first time 910am gets a pulse in a while...

  5. Is that Damon Bruce or Seth Rogen?

    1. They do look similar, now that you say so. The difference is size. Look at how big Damon's hands are, completely huge. Seth Rogen's hands are barely big enough to hold his smart phone in an upright position.

    2. FUNNY!..damn,I wish I has said that. Bruce,Mancow and Rogen never seen in the same room, doppelganger +1 effect. Rogen, the only liberal, takes the step ahead...

    3. You know what? They even SOUND ALIKE,talking alike, with Rogan needing to do less projection of course. But that laugh he does in Monsters vs Aliens as BOB? Bruce,is close!

  7. Anything beats tolbert and his shctick talking about wrestling and monkeys escaping a zoo and the sound clip he plays that goes with it along with the world cup playing each and every day at show ending.

  8. Bruce doesn't look sober in that picture.

  9. You mean you don't enjoy Tolbert's 25-year-old stories about "Nellie" and Steve Kerr?

  11. I got to hand it to D Bruce, a few shows in and he is easily King of the hill. I'm not sure if it has more to do with the formula approaches and talkers-on-tracks that characterize Bay Area talk radio, or that he is that good.

  12. Damon Bruce likes the smell of his own farts. He'll tell the world that he's the best sports talk show host in the bay area. He's been that way since he first got here. I guess he had to convince himself of that fact, after he was blown out of a news radio job in Indiana, and pissed off a boss and was fired at ESPN radio. And of course, he alienated the guy who hired him at KNBR, and that's why he was banished from 'The Sports Leader. " Eventually he'll burn out at the 'Game' as well. The thing is, Damontraded '*Siberia' (KNBR 1050) for a station that barely registers a 1 rating. Great move Damon!
