Valentine's Day Special Poll; Who's Your Favorite Bay Area TV/Radio Media Personality?; KTVU's Tara Moriarty Special Morning Mantra; TGIF

Talk about love!Like, for example, KTVU's lovely, but tough-nailed reporter, Tara Moriarty. I've always admired the feisty, tenacious field-correspondent who looks as if she just vacated a Manhattan hair salon. Not in any way shape or form to denigrate Ms. Moriarty, but she reminds me more of an East Coast newswoman as opposed to most of the Bay Area ditzies here. I'm told she's one of Channel 2's highest-paid reporters and has quite the following among young men who daydream about such fine female journalists of local TV News. I appreciate her presence and look forward to her work.

**On Valentine's Day, what Bay Area TV/Radio media personality is your favorite? Maybe to cozy up to and possess thoughts of true romance and admiration. Male or female.

  1. On a cold and blustery winter day I'd like to cozy up to Heather Holmes. After wearing such a beautiful tight blue shirt on last night's broadcast I see Gasia Mikaelynisisian in ways I hadn't seen her before. Either lady would be lovely on Valentine's.

    1. After seeing that blue dress I actually did a "gasia pregnant" google search. No baby bump at all, but wow, she appeared fully endowed.

  2. Yeah, she's okay.

BTW Rich, you used "we" when "I" was accurate and proper. Don't sweat it, it's a grammatical error commonly used in blue states.

    1. Ahhh yes......the Red States...well known for their intellectual and technological firepower.

    2. The Red States say "Me 'n' mah cousin" and "y'all." Must be said with chewin' tobacker in the mouth.

    3. "Me 'n' mah cousin" is the same as "Me 'n' mah sister" or "Me 'n' mah wife" in some redneck families. ;-)

    4. Oh, I seem to have hit a nerve.

As a gesture of goodwill, I'd like to wish you gentleman a happy Valentines day. I hope you and your boyfriends have the most romantic evening possible.

  3. YAY! Finally some Tara love here. She's one of my favorites . . . all that red hair . . . mmmmmmmmmmmmm . . .

  4. Tara's plenty hot, that's for sure.

So are Gasia, Liz Wenger and Liz Cook. I guess I have a CBS fetish.

  5. Tara, She's Brains and Beauty!! Very well spoken with her reporting. I sure hope KTVU doesn't let her go. She needs to be an anchor. She filled in on the 12:00 news slot a few weeks back and did extremely well. Good pick Rich!

  6. She is a really nice down to earth lady. She is also much better looking in person.

  8. While you are slobbering over her looks, I guess you didn't notice what an awful reporter Tara M. is. Count how many stumbles and "ums" she includes in her live shots. The only thing worse is her traffic reporting when Sal is away. Her traffic reporting consists of "Traffic at the toll plaza is your basic nightmare" or is "a disaster." No alternate routes given, no CHP updates on accidents on the road. Once she reported that an accident had occurred but neglected to say where. I have to wonder why she is still on the air. Awful.

    1. You have to wonder why she is on the air and then you mention Rich slobbering over her looks. Question answered.

    2. Mr. or Mrs. 1:02PM. I enjoy having Tara do the traffic reports when Sal is out. Tara is very easy on the eyes compared to Sal. When I wait up at 4:30 or 5: 00 and I see Tara, it is going to be a good day for me.

    3. Not only that, she royally fucked up sending a tweet about the recent BART taser incident (a regular thing at KTVU). She was called out and then deleted her original tweet. Nice "reporting," but yeah, I'd be all over that.

    4. Have to disagree 1:02. I think Tara is excellent on "live" reports. That is her strength. If you want to see a "live" train wreck, you should have watched Da Lin on Channel 5 last night -- stumbled badly and then looked away from the camera @ a half dozen times as he tried to gather himself.

    1. Elaine...as the horse in bed in Godfather 1? God, what an odious vacuous woman. She had the studio manager mount extra lights on the prompter shrouds of all the cameras in studio and newsroom to minimize the horror show that was her face. In studio, there were also special lights put into the news desk to throw light at the anchors..well, Elaine anyway......we used to joke that all the news shows had become a Michael Jackson video........but hey anon 3:39, whatever floats your boat.

  13. I like Bruce McGowan when he worked at KNBR. He did a little of everything for them and was always pleasant and fair with the callers when he did talk shows. It's too bad they got rid of him because he really knew his stuff. I'm told he now fills in at KGO for Walcoff and Kevin the Rat.

  14. You pathetic "Putz" you just can stop denigrating women can you? You're like a 13 yr. old in heat except the 13 yr has got a lot more going.

  15. As Tara's hairstylist, I have to say she is the best type of client to walk through the door. Naturally beautiful, so funny she makes the whole salon laugh, and totally low key. She'll let me do whatever I want with her hair. All she needs is an amazing color to look good on camera and a haircut that still looks good even when it's blowing in the wind at 4am while she's reporting. No need for Manhattan when you've got Oakland!

  16. My favorite hands down: Jade Hernandez.

  17. Tara's terrific!!!! She definitely has my vote!!!

  18. I luvs me some Dan Dibley. He is the snide, whip-smart, endearing, little brother we all wish we had.

The man can improv with the best of them. Pick a side and he'll eloquently and immediately argue the other side.

    1. Well, you got the snide and little part right.

    2. Yes, little Danny will argue the other side. In the process, he uses some of the most asinine, nonsensical rationalizations you have ever heard in your life.

  19. Favorite? True romance and admiration? Hmmmmmm....there's only one who comes to mind........Carolyn Johnson.

  20. Tara Moriarty could be good. Very good. However, Tara needs to drop the valley girl affect in her delivery. This "oh wow man" tone detracts from her credibility. And, yes, I don't think traffic reporting is in her future.

  21. Besides this becoming who I'd like to bang more segment, you are WAY OFF on this one RICH. NOBODY respects her at KTVU. She is the hallmark for what is wrong at KTVU. Where we used to have pros we now hire rejects. EVERYONE at KTVU was SHOCKED when she got hired. She is NOT a good reporter and has brought down the general quality of the AM shows.

    1. You crucify Moriarty but give Clark a free pass? What world do you live in?

I think she probably rejected your advances and that's the basis of your negative opinion.

    2. Kidding right? So gross... I guess you're forgetting when she world show up with her rat nest hair all over the place. Up too late for a shower? She's no prize.

And what does Clark have to do with this post? Did he shut you down?

  22. All TV anchors look better in person, from my observation.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I hope beyond all hope that Tara has a brother or uncle that's a professor so that somewhere, somebody in real life is called "Professor Moriarty".

  24. I'm 1:02 and I have resisted mightily saying anything about Moriarity previously because I believe women in media get unfairly singled out, but she rgeally is quite awful. I'm the one who keeps asking about Jade Hernandez because she was a terrific reporter. Another unsung female is Pam Cook who I think is under rated and under utilized. She has a relaxed style that never seems phony. She's the ONLY person on KTVU who when she laughs seems genuinely amused and not forcing a phony emotion. I would like to see more of her. KTVU used to have a great morning team but I guess they were going for mediocrity. Sal, Steve and Pam are the only reasons to watch in the morning. I miss the interviews after 7am and location events when KTVU actually felt like they were plugged into the Bay Area. Honestly, I only watch KGO in the afternoon and evening, now. KTVU has plummeted in quality and credibility.

Oh, and the morning weekend anchor team on KTVU is excellent. Love Wong and Mibach.

  25. If you want to see a lot of Bay Area media people, come out to the Oakland A's Root Beer Float Day For Juvenile Diabetes.

No names but some of them can barely figure out how to scoop ice cream!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Good for the A's and attending Bay Area "Public Figures" for supporting the Juvenile Diabetes cause. But for that particular event, I have always wondered why they would serve a beverage that has close to 100 grams of sugar!

You sound like my smart ass sister. Don't eat Ice Cream it is all Sugar..blah blah blah.

Maybe the Ice Cream served is sugar free?

    1. The fans enjoy the Root Beer floats, and they attract a good turnout, so those are positives. An ironic situation, nonetheless.
