  1. Ronn said the ratings were in the toilet and that's why they changed the format.

    Whatever will they do now?

    1. These ratings have nothing to do with Karel.

  3. Ronn is part of the reason ratings were in the toilet, I'm guessing didn't know what a toilet really was. Now he does.

There's literally no reason to listen to KGO during the week, and only minimal ones to listen on weekends.

    Behind ksfo? Hilarious.

    1. Gotta love the people who knock KSFO but have never even taken a week to listen regularly.

    2. I listen to KSFO, but not as much as I use to. I hardly ever agree with them, or their hosts, I use to listen to Melanie Morgan and Lee Rogers, because they were good, even though I did not agree with them. Brian Sussman stinks, Huckabee a nice man, but too religious for my taste, Barbara Simpson can be interesting, when she does not get all bend out of shape about Obama, Savage, same old, same old. It is so easy for you to assume that people that don't like KSFO don't listen. Some of us listen, and it is not about agreeing or disagreeing it is about having an interesting, quality hosts, which for the most part they don't. Honestly have you ever listened to Sussman and Katie in the morning? Should be called the worst damn morning show ever. Sounds of toilet flushing (while you are having breakfast) Brians has no personality, he is a nerd, trying to sound hip at times, which he is very bad at, last week he was really crude, (using terms like stick it where the sun don't shine) no I'm not a prude, or a young person, I'm in my late sixties, a child of the sixties, and he is just plain boring.

    4. I have given up on Ksfo, shortly after Melanie threw her hands up and stepped off the Not-So-Merry-Go-Round. I listen to John Batchelor sometimes, I then listen to Red Eyes Radio, Sleep and may wake to the 3am to 5an news show, where I still miss the former host. The present host is tolerable, but I enjoyed having the two hosts chirp back and forth as before. I make sure I switch the radio to 910am if I'm dosing off again and it's getting anywhere near 5am, I don't wish to hear Sussman's show, because it's guaranteed he will say something vulgar , cloying or annoying in the first 30 minutes. I stay away from it for now.

    5. 10:28 Is right on and echos my thoughts across the board. I tried to like Sussman but he is a nerd, want-to-be tough guy that fails at every turn. He even tries to mimic Levin and fails (not that I can listen to Levin for long. Same 'ol, same 'ol). Don't get me going on Green. She stinks and does not belong on a major signal. And it's obvious Sussman is drooling and playing off her every word. Get a room, grandpa.

I come over Hwy 9 every morning so signal is poor. KGO to the summit, KSFO to Saratoga, 910 and A&G the rest of the way. As soon as Green starts the traffic, I go to music if I haven't gotten out of the mountains. She simply grates on my nerves. And how many times can you say B_ _ _ _lank something down in the road be it a deer, car, debris, rain, tree, body, fog, cones, workmen, etc, etc, etc, ad nauseam. GIVE ME OFFICER VIC!

  4. KCBS and KQED "falter?" Did you notice almost every station, besides the Christmas stations, was either down or flat? The Holiday book doesn't give the clearest picture, obviously, with 2 stations going all-Christmas and people on vacation.

  5. On a separate--or perhaps related--issue, why do stations no longer feature radio dramas? I think ratings would go up if they started doing them again. I know I would listen.

  6. KOIT playing Christmas songs 24/7 topped the ratings while the rest played "best of" or had substitute hosts while the talent was on vacation? What a surprise!

  7. Hmmm... KSFO bested KGO handily in the last 3 "beauty contests." On far less than half the budget, far less than half the staff, and far less than half the coverage area, out of a shoebox studio in less than half the floor space. Hmmm.

    1. Everyone knows KGO stinks except Atlanta. Everyone is beating them.

    2. KGO has lost the intelligent market, KSFO still drawing the Fox crowd.

  8. Holiday is a throwaway month, but don't expect Rich to even try to get his facts straight.

  9. Yup, KOIT and KBAY play Christmas songs from Thanksgiving to Christmas Day. KNBR would have lower ratings since several of their regular hosts were on vacation.

  10. Isn't KOIT that horrible muzak station that that I must endure when visiting the dentist?

Radio is in a sad state when a station like that is #1 at any time of the year on any type of rating book.

  11. KOIT is number one? You're f....g kidding me! Who listens to that funeral? Zombies?

  12. The ratings posted here are Shares. This is a percentage of all people listening to radio. When a station has a signigicant jump is share, due to special - in this case holiday - programing, the share, or percentage, drop in relation to the increase. It is a temporary, and not significant ratings report.

  13. The last book of the year is always wildly distorted. KOIT is playing Christmas Music basically from before Thanksgiving and onward. So stores tune the station in as background. Hence the 4.0 share jump. Remember people meters now pick-up the actual sound of a station, not a dairy of what listeners say they're hearing. Check in with the next book at the end of March for numbers that indicate a trend. Still must be nice to be the KOIT sales department around the holidays.
