Radnich Rips Out of the Blue; KNBR Morning Tonsiler Comes Back After Severe Flu Illness; Says '103.7' Multiple Times on Air

Well, golly gee I thought we were all done with this.

I tried.

That did me a lot of good, didn't it? Yavoy.

Gary Radnich returned to the airwaves Monday after a four-day bout with a severe case of the flu; severe enough to require a hospital stay and absorbing a "103.7" temperature. Yikes.

How do I know the Raddy's temperature? He said it about a hundred times on the air, which is fine given 103.7 is officially suckable and death-like.

He looked a little lighter too but his convalescence didn't preclude him from, out of the blue, leveling a few shots at yours truly and this blog.

Out of the blue. I think that's the Gary we all know and love.  Gary can't stand a clean plate. I think he's infatuated with the needle card. It's not just me, mind you, there's others--media people, anchors, women weather forecasters, sports anchors, all at some point get the wrath of Raddy and I can't quite spell it out because I'm not a shrink but I do see some patterns.

I didn't hear the whole knock and it wasn't that much of a knock but a knock nonetheless way out of the blue. "I took a guy knocking me for six years and I survived", or something to that effect. He said it again and again. His partner asked to whom was he was referring to which we got another shot. Bizarre. Surprising too. I'm a naïve sob, aren't I? Don't answer.

As I've indicated numerous times here and elsewhere I finally decided to move on from the Gary story. Long past the derision because I think I stated my case and was ready to move on because how many times can you rip a guy who became Don Rickles and isn't too keen on the local sporting life. Frankly, as many times as he belittles sports and some of its conduits, its reporters, its own theatrics, I still find Gary relatively entertaining and funny. Sure, his out of place bizarros aside, he still commands the local domain whether its on the radio or TV. It's just that his shtick wears thin every now and then and just when you think you got him figured out, he goes off course. Maybe it's his secret weapon, his own vital insecurity showing off its king of emotional girth. Maybe it's just in his genes. His go-to identity audio DNA.

Meanwhile, back to coffee.
Welcome back Raddy.
It's so nice to have you back where you belong.
And of course it sounds as if you never missed a beat.

  1. Fatnich needs to hire a security service for he's insecure. His current body of work shows shallowness and incompetence. He should become a lounge act and get out of his 9-Noon schtick. I'd rather listen to Jim Rome. He's got takes. He doesn't suck. He's relevant. However, the listeners around here think he's the shit. Well, he is. Shit, that is. Go to a game, Fatnich. Be around the teams, Fatnich. Don't rely on the Internet. Do work. Don't leave it to your producers. Lazy slob.

    1. As Rich said,he didnt post the whole diatribe. But,"I just threw him a bone and that got him off my back" isnt how you want to describe a freindship. And do that over and over.
Maybe Raddy was in a "really good mood". Another code for his happy pills.

    2. It was definitely a rip at Rich. There was no mistake in the intent.

  3. Radnich is insecure? That's funny coming from Rich Lieberman.

  4. Radnich told you he was a friend a few months ago - right? And what have I said over the years? That's he's a liar. A simple example- How often does he make fun of older men who dye their hair even naming them, and he swore straight faced every time "I would never do that". Then, his KRON hairdresser live in TV before she retired says "I dont like the way the new person frosts your hair". A simple example but perfect for Radnich. He can drop "I'm being sincere" while not being sincere.
He's in his own world..another Raddy trait. Even Krueger gets enough of that. Monday he got that fed up look and told Radnich "You live in Candy Cane and popsicles and Bentley land".
Nobody loves Gary like Gary. He pardons himself from all lies and insults. Yeah,he has no convictions you might say.

  5. This is a weak media market. So expect to hear Radnich sitting in his depends one day talking about how he was so cool cuz he was the only white guy on an all black UNLV team.....hear him drop is dated never cool references, and hear the story for the billionth time about how he drove a Cadillac el dorado and saw Lola Falana at the stardust because some booster gave him tickets.....like the bad drivers who are more dangerous because they think they are good....Radnich is campy funny because he is the 180 degree opposite of the hipness he thinks he embodies

  6. Gary is going to stay true to who he is because that's what works for him. He enjoys sports, but he's got young kids and a wife who wants him around, so he doesn't go to games, because that would add to his time away from his family. Gary has been around long enough to where the novelty and the excitement of going to games wore off long ago. It reflects in Gary's work however, as he would rather talk about puff-daddy and some other tabloid nonsense because he seems to think that the 'young demographic' find that more interesting. But guess what? Most of the 'young demographic' doesn't listen to radio anymore, or watch KRON. They're too busy tweeting, texting, Facebooking, or checking out the new Aps and trading videos with their buds.

  7. Radnich coming on KRON for his slot is my cue to get up and take a whiz.

  8. May be off topic, but KNBR.com seems to have disappeared Damon Bruce. On KNBR 1050's schedule the 12-3pm slots for Thursday and Friday are listed as "CBS Sports Radio". Hmm.

  11. I thought Raddy was referring to his six-year long feud with Mark Thompson.

  12. How come the so-called "Sports Leader" station never talks about sports?

  13. I would love to know what Gary's first wife and grown kids think about him marrying a black woman and having 2 kids by her. Do they even talk to him anymore?

  15. Here's another thought on the Raddy- Rich415 dynamics. As many times as Rich posted his thoughts on Radnich that werent positive? not a single member of the media ever wrote in to say Rich - or me- has Radnich all wrong. Not once. I've never read any friend of Radnich defend him. Vern hasnt wrote Rich to say Radnich is a peach of a man. Not that it would change my mind..but the facts are, they all read this blog..and none defend him.
All the Radnich support has been "anonymous". Every one.

Oh,and Radnich of a few months ago who did the sincere " Rich and I are now good friends" that got total silence from the crew who listened? as truthful as "Stan just wrote me a threat" and "Lee Hammer is aware of this" to further add to Radnich, the sociopathic liar comedy.
The Rich speech..was like the Stan speech that preceded it. The man isnt to be trusted- ever.

    2. How sad and ptitiful that Larry and Kate,Pam and Jacky all have to make a living laughing and agreeing with Gary Radnich. Held hostage in order to pay the bills.
Larry smiles three hours nonstop at Gary. He doesnt smile three hours a day at his own kids.

    3. UPDATE: Stan is one VERY sick puppy! His obsession with Radnich smacks of psychosis.
