Savage Asks About the Mysterious DC Chase That Ended With Unarmed Dead Woman

Savage was suspicious and so am I...

This case befuddles me. How could a swarm of DC policemen and law enforcement shoot an unarmed woman with a baby in the back seat? She was shot at least ten times. Why?

Yet the press has largely ignored all of this.

  1. Given the always heightened tensions in DC, it's tough to say the police were in the wrong. She may have had an explosive device that she could have detonated and earlier in the chase, with multiple officers pointing guns at her - she fled. Don't know how they could assume that a second time would be different. It's a little bit of Monday Morning quarterbacking. That doesn't make it any less tragic now that we know her circumstances. The other thing - once they determine a legitimate threat, police are trained to shoot to kill, so when you have multiple officers on a scene, that many gunshots aren't unusual. And when one officer fires, odds are that the others will as well.

    1. She didn't have a gun, bomb, chemical weapons, or menacing device of any sort. How in the world do you square with WILLFULLY killing a person? It's cold blooded murder and it's another mismanaged mental health issue spiraling out of control and (almost) becoming a headline.

"Maybe this" or "possibly that" isn't enough cause to kill someone...legally. Multiple shots by multiple officers? Didn't happen to Oscar Grant and that cop went to prison, rightly so.

You people and your irrational fears, so quick to give up your freedoms.

      BOOO!!!

And the Capitol police, who had seconds to react, just knew this, eh? They were psychics. Funny, never read that anywhere.

    3. Uh, we didn't know any of this 'til after the fact. This woman was using her car as a dangerous weapon and sped thru red lights at high speed---it has already been explained that bullets will not stop modern tires. What would you have done (while the car was heading for you)?

    4. Savage is usually the first to stand up for police and other law enforcement. I'm pretty sure I know where he stood on Trayvon Martin/Zimmer case, same with Oscar Grant. He is being suspicious, because he is tying the security at the White House and the Capital to an administration he hates. He does not have an objective observant bone in his mean body.

  3. Inspector Savage thinks something is fishy? Hmm...Maybe it's because he hosts a radio show and has to invent content?

Usually when someone threatens the President or Politicians, they shoot them. Come on, Rich, you're better than that, even if the senile Inspector is not.

  4. Rich,
You said this case befuddles you. What was the proper thing to do in this situation, not knowing the things we know now? Please let us know.

  5. I wish Savage would ask about the mysterious and sudden disappearance of Lieberman Live on the Central Coast! What the hell happened?

  6. When it comes to White House security, the police will always err on the side of caution, especially after the JFK assassination and 9/11. That woman had a history of mental illness and the fact that she had a baby in the car while slamming into the White House gates showed how disturbed she was

  7. When we were in DC last year, touring the West Wing, it was made absolutely clear to us that any out-of-the-norm behavior will result in some serious shit. I was not surprised they blew her head off. I would expect nothing less. We saw Obama land on the South lawn one evening, and the amount of security was astounding. Sharpshooters on the roof, cops everywhere, federal officers protraying themselves as bums and tourists. Someone acts out of character, of course there will be actions. She could have had a dirty bomb in the trunk, explosives taped to her chest, etc. Shouldn't be a surprise in this day and age.

  8. The crazy bitch had already rammed some cars and sped through barriers. Yeah she was a nutty woman with a kid in the backseat, hindsight is 20/20.
So next time a terrorist with a bomb in the car who rams police and speeds towards the White House gets away with it because "it might be an unarmed woman"?
Questioning the actions of the Secret Service and DC Police in this one is stupid with a capital s.

  9. Well, there was the fact she tried to crash the White House barriers, failed to pull over during a police chase, and was apparently headed for the Capitol when finally stopped. Rich, you fail to recognize that a car can be a deadly weapon in and of itself. Had that car also been loaded with explosives (as happens almost daily in some parts of the world) this "unarmed woman with a baby in the back seat" could have caused serious harm. Give the cops a break. They were just doing their jobs in a very difficult situation. Yes, the facts of the case are sad, but the police had little choice but to use deadly force.
