Flash: Boston Marathon Explosions Topic A on My Radio Show; UPDATE

Everyone is talking about the very fluid situation going on in Boston.

So far, we know what we see. The cause is yet to be determined.

I'm going to talk about it on my KSCO/KOMY radio talk show.

UPDATE: We now know that bombs caused the explosions and others have been found and detonated.

  4. Two things are certain after the events in Boston today.
Barrack Obama will refuse to call this an act of terrorism.
    and
The San Francisco Chronicle will run a feature story that is sympathic to the bomber.

    1. Wrong and wrong:

"President Obama declared the Boston Marathon bombing an "act of terror" on Tuesday, "

      http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2013/04/16/obama-boston-marathon-bombing-remarks/2087565/

3:59's idiotic claim about the Chronicle is equally false.

    1. Define "choose"...
"Rooting for" or "picking to win a street fight" are two very different choices/answers.

The bomber already won, all thats left is some form of justice for the victims. No death penalty in Mass, so the tax payer loses too.

Regarding coverage, whats Scott Pelly (CBS)taking? That guy was calm, composed and steady (robotic isn't always a bad thing) for hours with no change.

    2. if not an American citizen the person can still face death penalty. BUT...prison would be worse.

    2. The guy in the White House will never call this an act of terroism. The man is to weak.
What America needs a leader in the White House not a school professor who will cower in a corner in fear.

    3. It's not surprising that Obama critic at 10:18 - "Obama is to weak" - can't even write two coherent sentences in plain English.

America may not need s "school professor" in the White House but 10:18 could use someone to teach him how to read and write.

    4. You're talking about the President who finally brought Bin Laden to justice. Big Bad Bushie never bothered to get Bin Laden because he was too busy invading a country that hadn't attacked us. And then he preened in his codpiece and flight suit in front of a sign claiming "Mission Accomplished." Please go back to Fox News and get some better talking points.

  8. Jay Rosen, NYU journalism professor, summed it up nicely in a tweet he posted today (as @JayRosen_NYU) on the Boston Marathon bombings.

"A big, moving story covered live with unplanned, unscripted coverage: that is when you see who has the talent in TV news. And who does not."

    2. Rich spoke extemporaneously about the Boston Marathon bombings with great clarity and focus on KOMY AM 1340 today. If you missed it, download and listen to the podcast.

  9. Rich: Your wide-ranging and hard-hitting analysis of the Boston Massacre on your radio talk show today was your best program to date. You have set a new high bar for yourself and you've left your talk show peers behind in the dust!

    1. He was terrific! No Gil Gross or Sean Hannity for me today. I listened to Rich for a full three hours instead. This is a first, and I intend don't intend to turn back.

    2. Worked until 6:15 p.m. so only got bit's of talk show coverage. Heard about the bombing first right after noon on the Tom Sullivan show, he does a good job, of telling what he knows, does not get too hysterical, or speculate too much. Tuned in to Hannity a few minutes in my lunch hour at 2 p.m. but changed to Tom Sullivan, prefer him to Hannity, although both are conservatives. Driving home, I listen to Gil Gross and my observation is, he is a good news person, he has a smooth delivery, does not seem to be lost for words, none of the things that annoys me about Gil as a talk show host comes through when he does a story like yesterday, he seem to thrive on the pace of a developing story, when he does his talk show he does not have the same pace, and often seem to try to fill the air with something. Did turn to Michael Savage for about 2 minutes, of course he made all about him, said everything he predicts comes true, except for a couple of times, I agree with Rich he can be entertaining, my problem is I can no longer stayed tuned to him long enough to hear that. He is either screaming and yelling about Obama and the liberal, or it is all about him. Don't have the patience to find out when he is entertaining.

  10. "Everyone is talking about the very fluid situation going on in Boston "

That is untrue. John Lund and Greg Papa spent their time today discussing NBA officiating and the word "anus".

  11. One thing is certain:
RepubliKKKans will blame Mr. Obama for this.

Of course, the RepubliKKKans will conveniently forget that it was a RepubliKKKan President who was in office for the 1983 Lebanon Embassy Bombing...and the 9/11 Terror attacks.

  12. To assume Lund and papa aren't talking about this off air its pretty dumb, which is the point of "everybody is talking..." He didn't say "everyone is broadcasting this..." - d.w.

    1. When did Lund and Papa start getting paid for talking off the air?

Bottom line, I tuned into 8 different stations yesterday and Lund and Papa on 95.7 were not only the only ones not discussing Boston, they were the only ones discussing the word anus like children. Real quality programming over there.

    2. Today the hosts on 95.7 are falling all over themselves, bringing attention to the fact that they're talking about Boston today. How incredibly sensitive. After yesterday when they either ignored the tragedy or made light of it when they did acknowledge it. The bombing happened right at the beginning of Lund's & Papa's show. They should be embarrassed.
