Listeining to Noory's 'Coast to Coast AM'--Call the Authorities

I need therapy, it's official.

I've begun listening to George Noory and his popular radio show, Coast to Coast AM.

I'll qualify this with a disclaimer: I'm keen on the first hour when interesting topics are discussed and analysed. Noory had a highly entertaining and informative program on the Russian meteor. After that, I was out.

I'm not into space aliens and big foot discoveries. The Sasquatch is something I'll leave to the people at the Enquirer.

Maybe we all need to talk.

  1. The best part of it all was on cable, Amy Menzler of JPL described it to us laypeople. Amy is hot,so hot she looks like a more petite and younger Angelina Jolie. Looks, smarts, and girly girl..she has it all.
She does programs on the Science channel.

  4. The authorities should be called for your endorsement of the Cabbage Nation and your spineless censoring on this forum. You have a lot of nerve calling out the Bay Area for ”intolerance” while you are too much of a pussy to respond to valid criticisms about yourself, your blog and your show. You were Mr. tough guy on air last week. What happened?

    2. Anonymous and calling others spineless? lol. Not too mention the censored...

    3. Have to agree with @8:46.

Rich routinely censors any comments even slightly derogatory about his radio show. That by itself is understandable. It's his show and this is his blog.

BUT the problem comes in when at the same time Rich presents himself as an objective observer who favors open-communication and tolerance.

You can't control the content of commenter's messages and pretend to advance open-communication.

And you can't be an objective observer of the local media market once you're a part of the market. Business columnists who own stock A are prohibited from writing negative articles about competing company B.

    4. You wanna take shots about THE SHOW, fine, go ahead. You get personal, then there's issues. Pretty simple. And unlike many others, I take shots with MY NAME out there. I don't hide behind the keyboard.

    5. Sorry Rich, but I've experienced first-hand the fact that you routinely censor messages about your show that are even slightly negative and not in a personal way, unless you consider anything negative about YOUR show negative.

Considering the stuff you allow to get by regarding other broadcasters, it's a double standard.

  5. Mr. Lieberman
You've become the drug dealer who uses his own product. It just dosent work! You either deal it, or use it! You can not have both.

    1. I wouldn't put it quite that way BUT Lieberman is unable to recognize that there is a built in conflict of interests being both a critic and a participant at the same time.

You can't be a judge at the dog show if you have a poodle in the rink!

  6. I personally like George Noory. Last I heard about Art Bell...he was living in Manilla, Philippines with his wife and newborn daughter (and I'm sure 13-27 of her family members). I hope "if" he does return to radio he doesn't go after the Coast to Coast slot. In my eyes it's George's show. There's a huge audience over the last 10 years that only knows George.

  7. That huge audience doesn't know what it missed. Art created C2C and made it a huge success. People would stay up all night to listen to his 5 hour show. When he retired (and he's "retired" multiple times which is frustrating for the fans) he made it plain that he wouldn't come back to Coast but he would not try to destroy what he created. He has been circumspect about Noory, who was handed Coast and has been grinding it into the ground for 10 years.

Art is back in Parumph, NV and has floated some tantalizing hints on Facebook that since a non-competition deal he was committed to has expired, he wants back on the air.

There is a very active fan website called ""Coast Chat". You can listen to 24/7 vintage Art on the "Fine Art" stream on TuneIn Radio.

And yes, I think this is a story to watch. There are a lot of "Coasties" out there.

    1. Do you really feel Art can recapture that fire? He was the king, but it was a long time ago. Does he have the fire? He's not as young as he once was. I miss Ian Punnett.

    2. Ian Punnett still fills in once every few weeks on weekends. He has had to deal with a fairly serious ear issue. I thoroughly enjoy John B. Wells on weekends even though his voice sounds like he has balls in the size of a foot in diameter each. He is to paranormal what Barry White was to love ballads. Bringing back Art Bell would be like Jay Leno taking back the Tonight Show from Conan.

    3. Anon 10:38, I don't know if he can, but if he wants to try, isn't it intriguing? When is there real excitement about terrestrial radio these days? Never. The "Second Coming of Art Bell" would be exciting. The buzz on the fan site is that Art is creating a new show starting in April, "The Art Bell Network", and that he's taking George Knapp with him. ps I liked Ian Punnett very much. I think John B Wells has a future. When I first heard him, I thought he was Art Bell, but his voice is actually about three octaves below Art's. Incredible voice...hypnotic, like that of Orson Welles...but a lot thinner on the talent. Great taste in bumper music, though. Also keep an eye on Clyde Lewis's "Ground Zero" show. It's quite reminiscent of the old C2C.

Art Bell's secret? Just as a "reporter" from the Weekly World News commented years ago from the Boca Raton FL offices...

"Never let a question get in the way of a good story".

  9. Right on Rich! I've been a fan for a long time. Listen on Sundays George Knapp steps in. He's fantastic.
