She does things with special olympics. They did a whole showcase on KRON this week. There's something old school about Kyla. Reminds me of the broadcasters from the good ol days when they were out in the community. Now you only see them taking pictures of themselves over and over.
Does Tamayo get to pick his time due to his promotion to Chief Meteorologist? He literally stops his forecast for seconds due to swallowing! None of the weather casters have gone even a week with the same schedule,
The new ktvu team is pathetic. They’re like a replacement team during the nfl strike. Mike is nothing compared to Frank. Claudine is nothing compared to Julie. And mark is very credible. But watching him is like watching paint dry. There’s just no personality compared to bill. I personally like Steve’s sense of humor. But both Roberta at 55 trying to look 20. And rosemary who more interested in fashion shots on instagram are terrible. Dennis and longtime former news director Fred zehnder must be rolling over in their graves at how pathetic kind cute is now. I for one haven’t watched them since Frank and mark both left.
One thing that has to be remembered Rich is that in the heyday of local newscasts, stations enjoyed far more autonomy, could do as they pleased without corporate standardization and mandate. KPIX was owned by Westinghouse until its merger with CBS in 1995. KRON was never in the NBC fold; the network chose KNTV for its O and O. KTVU was owned by Cox . In earlier decades station managements had far more latitude to decide what local viewers wanted and preferred Everything from on-air talent to music and graphics was mostly chosen in-house. KGO was the only network-owned station in the market, and even Channel 7 could style and brand its own newscasts without having to mirror WABC or KABC. (there was only one Van Amburg) Today budgets and demographics rule all. Talent and experience means little. Most all of what we see today is dictated by Viacom, Fox, Disney, and NBCU. One of the many unfortunate results is a generic look and feel to newscasts. Go to any big market in America and you will see no difference. We are the poorer for this indeed.

They could use some help on those evening shows. They are very dull. Find myself switching. KTVU isn't what it used to be.
