It's not that she's "not ready," she already had previous experience as PBP announcer with the Rockies. She's just not a fit as PBP announcer and 10 more years won't change that. She may be OK as a reporter, but there are so many reasons why she should stay away from PBP.
It's a terrible look when she's broadcasting a play that's already over. She's constantly a step behind, which is career suicide for TV, but she may be able to get away with it on the radio side.
While you may get a little overzealous about Ms. Cavnar’s lack of talent for play by play, I can’t say I disagree with you. I worked for many years as a sportscaster in small, medium and large markets in radio and TV around the country., The only time I heard or saw someone with a that annoying a voice and with that little talent for play by play was when I working in TV in a town of 50,000 people., I’m sure she’d be fine as a ore game show, (which she did in Denver,) but moving from the studio to play by play announcer? She’s just not good enough. Yes, the A’s are a minor operation so Iminor league talent with a minor league salary is probably what sye’s gettng. . I don’t know about you, but I could care less about the A’s and don’t watch any of their games because they’re not in the area anymore. And most of their good players over the years get shipped out or traded or released or go to another club as a free agent, so there’s no point in investing any emotion or interest. They’ve been doing that since 2000. Think of all the players that have left here; Giambi, Hudson, Mulder, Olson, Chapman, Simeon, Miguel, Tejada, , Josh Donaldson and on and on and on. The most valuable person in the” “Apathetics” organization is is GM David Forst, a Billy Beane’s acolyte., But I bet if you asked him off the record, he’d say the hiring of Jenny Cavnar was a mistake!
I suggest you listen to the other PxP announcer for the A’s, Chris Carey and critique his performance. I think the A’s are batting .500. He has talent and does his homework; unlike Jenny.
PxP is not Jenny's forte. She's better suited as a pre/post game host.

DeleteShe's a temp. That's all. Give it a rest.
ReplyDeleteDallas talks like his life depended on it, almost like a bomb would go off if he stopped talking.
