Fine Tuning: Anne Makovec Reinvents Self on CBS News Bay Area PM

  1. Lieberman, I'll help you out here, because you're seeing the same thing that I am. Anne Makovec was like the Swiss Army knife for CBS News. Filling in wherever, doing a commendable job, but not great. Well, welly, welly, welly, well! It appears that Eliza Doolittle has found her own Professor Henry Higgins. I think the word you maybe searching for is: Acuity. There is a definite directness and dare I say an equanimity about her. Somethings changed and I like it! More assertive, exuding confidence.Yes! Though, I know there are those who will dismiss her and see her purely as just a zaftig newsreader. I see more. I see a confident woman who no longer finds the role of ingenue appealing and establishing herself. Keep up the good work! Very observant Lieberman.....

    2. I doubt it is competition. Anne is no stranger to Noon, but being tossed around multiple shifts at times does not bode well for anyone. Anne Makovec should do primetime or a more prominent role.

  2. KPIX needs to stop dedicating weekday newscasts to anchors. What if someone leaves or moves (i.e. Reed, Liz). Just put back Afternoon Edition and make all evening shows Evening Edition like weekends (5, 6, 7, 11 on weeknights).

    1. Suggest this to their E.P. and prepare yourself for the hollow, mesmerized stare and drool-like meringue dripping from their mouth. First off, your suggestion makes too much sense. Second, narcissism is like pollen. It gets on and contaminates everything. Given the mercurial nature of some and tenuous nature of the industry, leaving is not a question of ''if",but when? KPIX, refine your content, not the chyron at the bottom of the screen.

    2. Well said. Not if but when is a valid point. And while they’re at it they need to bring coanchoring back to weeknights at all hours. It’s no wonder the channel has fallen down the rails

  3. You can't seriously be claiming that PIX is dedicating newscasts to anchors when they put them on VR sets with bad focus and horrible lighting so bad that they might as well not bother with makeup.

    1. I have no problem with the Virtual set. Brian & Andrea use them but they do not compromise their delivery. Seriously, bring coanchoring back to weekdays & promote these 2 (unless Brian plans to retire).

  4. I think Makovec, Fehely, Goodrich, and Hackney are the best they have. The others? Eh.

    1. Add Nakano to the list. If KPIX even promoted Brian & Andrea they can promote Da Lin from reporting to anchoring weekend evenings. He’ll shine there. Maybe pair Da with Katie Nielsen. A lot of other reporters have the tendency to leave after 3 years (Jocelyn, Shawn).

I say this because if you compare the difference with that R-Evolution story Sara crossed the line at 11, but Andrea handled it with grace and viewer centricness and instead of inserting her opinion, directed to the meteorologists on how lovely the weather was. We need more of those people there.

  5. I'm tired of seeing Sara.
